Lingle endorsed by Hawaii Restaurant Association

MEDIA RELEASE

The 800-member Hawaii Restaurant Association (HRA) formally has announced its endorsement of Linda Lingle for Hawaii’s open U.S. Senate seat.

“I’m very pleased that my pro-business, pro-jobs record and policies to move Hawaii’s economy forward are resonating with this important group of independent restaurateurs,” Lingle said. “HRA members represent the small businesses our state depends on and I look forward to partnering with them to further strengthen Hawaii’s economy.”

“Governor Lingle has long been a passionate and effective advocate for the hospitality industry and we are delighted to express our continued support for her campaign,” said Roger Morey, executive director of HRA. “Our industry constitutes $10 billion of Hawaii’s economy every year, and employs 82,000 people statewide. Governor Lingle understands that our local small businesses are the cornerstone of Hawaii’s economy. We have full confidence in her ability to strengthen and support our state’s hospitality industry.”

This is the third election Lingle has received an endorsement by Hawaii Restaurant Association. The important local organization first endorsed Lingle for governor in 2002 and then again in her historic 2006 re-election campaign.

The Hawaii Restaurant Association is a non-profit trade association dedicated to serving the needs of the restaurant, food service, hospitality and tourism industries in the state of Hawaii.

It is a state affiliate of the National Restaurant Association.
