The National Hurricane Center is forecasting Hurricane Daniel to weaken as it moves Westward and is expected to become a remnant low pressure system which will pass South of the Big Island late in this week.
Easterly swells from Hurricane Daniel will produce increased surf along East facing shores during the second half of the week with some early swells reaching the Big Island Tuesday (July 10). Surf is expected build Wednesday and peak on Thursday or Friday.
Currently there is a small craft advisory until 8 p.m. Tuesday for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo and Alenuihaha Channels along with Big Island Leeward and Southeast waters.
