County and National Park firefighters continue to work on Pahala brushfires

Hawaii County fire dispatch reports the 400 acre brushfire scene above Pahala town is 95 percent contained and under control while firefighters continue to put out hotspots and maintain the fire perimeter Tuesday (June 26).

The larger makai fire is 60 percent contained as Hawaii County and Hawaii Volcanoes National Park firefighters maintain firebreaks and extinguish hotspots. Firefighters are concentrating efforts on the Northern and Southern flanks of the fire scene.

There are no road closures in the area due to the fires.
