LaFrance is a retired contractor, alarm company operator, a lifetime farmer, and real estate broker for more than 30 years. He has a degree in hospitality, human resource administration, agricultural science, and an MBA.

“I believe that the Big Island has an abundance of resources we could use effectively to make a better future for Hawaii,” LaFrance said.

“I have a burning desire to work with the local community to improve education, sustainable agriculture, alternative energy sources and improve economic development,” he said. “We need to become more business friendly.”

LaFrance said that as a farmer he understands the needs of the local agricultural community.
