Average gas prices in Hawaii fall the past week

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii, June 11- Average retail gasoline prices in Hawaii have fallen in the past week, averaging $4.42/g yesterday. This compares with the national average that has fallen in the last week to $3.56/g, according to gasoline price website HawaiiGasPrices.com.

Including the change in gas prices in Hawaii during the past week, prices yesterday were 41.0 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and are 8.0 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased during the last month and stands lower than this day one year ago.

“While price decreases have heated up on the West Coast, such decreases are drying up in other areas- such as the Great Lakes,” said GasBuddy.com Senior Petroleum Analyst Patrick DeHaan. “While current factors still point to some falling gasoline prices in some areas, mainly the West Coast, oil prices haven’t continued to shed as much value in the past week. Prices in the past few years have bottomed out in June, we could see a similar situation play out this year,” DeHaan said.
