Summer Reading Program (June 4-July 7)

The Kealakekua Public Library will hold its Summer Reading Program “Dream Big — Read!” from June 4 to July 7 with special free events lined up for June.

There will be craft and music programs and prizes for reading books and weekly library visits.

Kids can enter to win a $20 Dairy Queen Gift Card, teens starting 7th grade in the fall of 2012 can enter to win an iPod Shuffle and Kindle Fire Tablet and $75 Mall Gift Card. Adults can enter to win an EReader/Tablet.

The scheduled events include:

* June 6 at 5:30 p.m. Kid’s Bubble Wand, 5 years and up
* June 8 at 2:30 p.m. Paper Fan Design, 5 years and up
* June 13 at 5:30 p.m. Harp Music Performance
* June 15 at 2:30 p.m. Teen Beaded Necklace
* June 20 at 5:30 p.m. Kid’s Temporary Tattoos, 5 years and up
* June 22 at 2:30 p.m. Adult Botanical Print Scarf
* June 25 at 2:30 p.m. Chinese Knotting for Teens/Adults limited to 20 participants
* June 27 at 5:30 p.m. Ukulele Performance
* June 29 at 2:30 p.m. Kid’s Beaded Spider Web, 5 years and up

All programs run about one hour, and all children 5 years or younger must be accompanied by a parent. If you need a sign language interpreter or other accommodation for the listed programs please contact the library three weeks in advance.

The library is open noon-4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday and Friday, 2-7 p.m. Wednesday and 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday. It is closed Thursday and Sunday.
