Work on Kona roads continues through June

MEDIA RELEASE

The following roadwork will continue through mid-June in Kona:

* Repairs to damage from the 2006 earthquake at mile markers 8.9 and 4.4 are nearing completion. Isemoto Contracting Company Ltd will conduct resurfacing work June 4-14 along Mamalahoa Highway in Holualoa.

Roadwork is between the hours of 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Completion is scheduled for June 14.

Intermittent one-lane closures will begin June 4 and could take up to three days at mile marker 8.9, located near Palani Junction. The remaining days up to June 14 will be at mile marker 4.4 near Waiono Meadows.

This federal funded project also included retaining walls, swales, pavement markings, and guardrails.

* The county Department of Public Works Highway Maintenance Division plans resurfacing work June 6-7 along Hina Lani Street. The work will begin 100 feet below the intersection at Highway 190, and continue for 2,170 feet ending near Hikimoe Street and Kahakea Place.

Alternate lane closures will be in effect between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Road resurfacing on Hualalai Road from the Mamalahoa intersection ending at Lako Street is scheduled June 4-5. Alternate lane closures will be in effect between the hours of 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Roadwork is weather permitting. No roadwork will occur on weekends or holidays.
