By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea above 8,000 feet until 6 a.m. this Sunday (June 3).

Winds are forecast to be from the Northeast at 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph. Winds this strong can make driving difficult especially for high profile vehicles. The Mauna Kea Access Road is open and motorists should use caution driving in the windy conditions.

A small craft advisory is in effect for the Alenuihaha Channel and waters South of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Monday (June 4).
