Wind and Small Craft Advisories issued for Big Island

By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa above elevations of 8,000 feet until 6 p.m. Tuesday (May 22).

Winds are from the East at 25-35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. The strong winds can blow unsecured objects around and make driving especially difficult for high profile vehicles. Motorists should use caution.

Small craft advisories are also in effect from 9 a.m. Monday (May 21) to 6 p.m. Tuesday (May 22) for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel along with Leeward and Southeast waters of the Big Island.
