Hooulu Farmers Market hosts cupcake competition

The Hooulu Farmers Market is held every Wednesday at the Keauhou Outrigger Resort in the luau grounds. On May 2, the market featured its 1st Annual Cupcake Competition, and several of the vendors entered with some stunning cupcakes.

Cupcakes were made and decorated with local ingredients including lilikoi, macadamia nuts and coffee.

The competition was judged by Kumu Keala Ching, Gail Smith of Earth Matters Farm, and Brad Freeman of B93 radio.

The winners were:
First place: Ankea’s Gluten Free Bread
2nd place (tie): Twisted Danish and Pukalani Farm
4th place: Pumehana Plantation

In addition to the Cupcake Competition there were several hula halau, including a large local keiki group, as well as two halau from Japan.

A seniors ukulele group also performed.
