Kohala beat out Saint Francis for eighth place in Division II of the state softball tournament and was the only Big Island team to finish in the top eight.

The title games in both divisions match up the top two seeds. In Division I, it’s No. 1 Mid-Pacific vs. No. 2 Campbell. In Division II, No. 1 Waimea against No. 2 Nanakuli.

Other Big Island teams that started the knock-out tournament include Honokaa, Hilo, which was seeded No. 4 in Division I, and Kamehameha Schools Hawaii, which was seeded No. 3 in Division II.
