The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the wind advisory for Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea above the 8,000 foot level until 6 a.m. Wednesday (May 2).

Winds are coming from the East at 20-30 mph with gusts up to 45 mph. The strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles like trucks and vans.

A small craft advisory is also in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday (May 23) for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel along with Big Island Leeward and Southeast waters.
