MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union recently presented a check for $15,000 to the Hawaii Island United Way (HIUW) following a vigorous annual employee campaign.

The Credit Union’s employees – through good times and economically challenging times – each year, for more than 20 years, committed to a United Way campaign. It is estimated in the past 10 years that the Credit Union and its employees have donated more than $110,000 to HIUW.

Additionally this spring, Hawaii Community FCU helped sponsor Pacific Radio Group’s KAPA Hawaiian FM Kakoo I Na Keiki Slippa Drive. The drive – an example of island partners collaborating with HIUW to provide support in their communities – included radio promotions and a golf tournament, raising more than $1,700 and collecting more than 200 pairs of slippers.

The monies raised will go toward the purchase of more slippers for island keiki.

“We so appreciate and value our relationship with Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union,” says Darla DeVille, Executive Director of Hawaii Island United Way. “The employees do a tremendous job every year with the annual drive. I know the people who work at Hawaii Community FCU really believe in their communities; they not only offer great service through the Credit Union, but they are generous annual donors.”

James Takamine, President/CEO of Hawaii Community FCU, agrees. “For more than 20 years, our employees and our organization have generously given to an annual Hawaii Island United Way campaign. At both an individual level and a corporate level the Credit Union and its employees believe in the good work United Way does on our island. I’m proud to lead an organization filled with people committed to giving back to their community.”

Hawaii Community Federal Credit Union is a not-for-profit credit union currently observing its 75th anniversary. It is wholly owned by its more than 39,000 member/owners and the financial institution has branches in Honokaa, Kailua-Kona, Kaloko, Kealakekua and Kohala.
