Two in serious condition after stabbing in Puna Wednesday (April 18)

Big Island police are investigating a stabbing incident involving four people that resulted in two of them being sent to the hospital with serious injuries.

Responding to an 11:11 p.m. call Wednesday (April 18) at a home near the 7-mile marker on Route 132 in Kāpoho, arriving officers discovered a 28-year-old Kāpoho man with a severe head wound and lacerations, a 25 -year-old Kāpoho woman with a severe laceration to her upper body, and a 45-year-old Kāpoho woman with a minor injury being treated by Fire Department rescue personnel.

The 28-year-old and 25-year-old were taken to Hilo Medical Center. Although the 28-year-old man’s injuries were potentially life-threatening, he and the 25-year-old woman underwent surgery and both are listed in serious condition.

Police arrested Jeffrey Robert Perkins, 43 of Kāpoho on suspicion of one count of first-degree assault and two counts of second-degree assault. He is being held in the Hilo police cellblock while detectives from the Area I Criminal Investigations Section continue the investigation.
