Montana visitor died of cariac arrest, not drowning in Kona Tuesday (April 10)

A Montana man apparently drowned Tuesday (April 10) in waters off Kona.

The victim has been identified as Edward Woyciehowicz, 68, of Missoula, Montana.

Just before noon, Kona patrol officers responded to a report of a possible drowning at Kahaluu Beach Park. Upon arrival, they learned that a lifeguard had seen a man floating and had pulled him out of the water and begun cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.

Fire Department personnel also responded and continued CPR.

Woyciehowicz was transported to Kona Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police do not suspect foul play. An autopsy has been ordered to determine the exact cause of death.

An autopsy conducted last week has determined that 68-year-old Edward Woyciehowicz of Missoula, Montana, died of cardiac arrest.
