Royal Footsteps interpretive experience RFP underway

KVBID has issued a request for proposals from interested companies that are able to create a customized interpretive experience of Royal Footsteps Along the Kona Coast Scenic Byway.

The company selected will create a free downloadable Smartphone application that will be compatible on Android and iPhones.

Travelers on the Scenic Byway will be able to gain a deep understanding of Hawaii’s heritage found in the more than 25 points of interest along Alii Drive as they interact with the interpretive application.

The application will include video and still photography, and audio and links to websites of points of interest. The RFP also calls for the application to include a Google Maps interface for easy mapping, routing to points of interest, nearby shopping, dining, parking, lodging and activities.

The application will also include links to maps and events found on KVBID’s website: www.HistoricKailuaVillage.com

RFP deadline is 4 p.m. Friday, April 13.

A summer launch is planned.

      You’ll have to contact KVBID to see if there are any extensions to this deadline. We had less than 24 hours notice before we posted the info here but it may have been on their website for a month.
