The Thirty-Sixth Annual Horse Show, featuring Hunter Trials, Jumping, and Play Day events, will be held at Hawaii Preparatory Academy (HPA) at 9 a.m. Sunday, April 29, at the school’s Upper Campus in Waimea.
Entry deadline is Friday, April 20, 2012.
“This show welcomes riders from throughout the state,†show manager Judy Folk said.
Cathy Darrow, of Pepeekeo, will judge. Darrow, who began her riding career at the age of 4, has been judging for more than 25 years. She is a 2011 United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) ‘r’ Dressage judge.
Riders will compete in the following divisions and ribbons will be awarded through seventh place:
Division A: Jumping ($5 Entry Fee Per Class)
1. Crossrails Equitation — Trot and/or canter
2. Novice Hunter Over Crossrails — Trot and/or canter
3. Hunter Over Crossrails — Trot and/or canter
4. Equitation Over Fences — Open 2’ to 2’3â€
5. Open Jumper 2’ to 2’3â€
6. Open Hunter 2’6â€
7. Poles On the Ground Equitation
Division B: Hunter Trials ($35 Entry Fee)
8. Brave Hearts: 13 to 15 jumping efforts, about 2’9â€. The Optimum Time will be based on 350 meters per minute.
9. Soaring Jumpers: 17 to 19 jumping efforts, no higher than 3’, with spreads anticipated. The Optimum Time will be based on 350 meters per minute.
Division C: Play Day ($5 Per Class) All classes are grouped by ability.
10. Walk/Trot/Leadline Pleasure (English or Western)
11. Pleasure (English or Western)
12. Walk/Trot/Leadline Equitation (English or Western)
13. Equitation (English or Western)
14. Bucket Elimination (English or Western)
15. Ribbon Race (English or Western)
16. Balance and Hold Game (English or Western)
The event is free and open to the public. Volunteer jump judges are needed.
