Wind advisory for Kohala and Waikoloa with gusts up to 50 mph

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for the Kohala and Waikoloa areas of the Big Island from noon through 10 p.m. this evening (April 8).

Winds will be from the Northeast at 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.

The strong winds can bring down tree branches and make driving difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

A small craft advisory is in effect until 6 pm. tonight for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alenuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward watrs and Southeast waters.
