Akaka releases Hawaii public schedule

MEDIA RELEASE

U.S. Sen. Daniel K. Akaka (D-Hawaii) is in Hawaii during the first two weeks of April during the United States Senate’s Easter/Passover recess.

He has scheduled field hearings of the Senate committees on Indian Affairs and Veterans’ Affairs, receiving awards from the State Legislature, the Coast Guard Foundation, and the Hawaii Institute for Public Affairs, delivering the welcome address at the annual Hawaii Prayer Breakfast, and attending an Army Change of Command Ceremony, in addition to private meetings and events.

Akaka’s public schedule:

* Tuesday, April 3
Hawaii State Legislature to honor Sen. Akaka
Time: 11:30 a.m. Senate session; Noon House session.
Location: State Capitol

* Wednesday, April 4
Meeting with Philippine Consul General to Hawaii Julius Torres
Time: 11:30 a.m.
Location: Akaka’s office in the Prince Kuhio Federal Building

* Thursday, April 5
33rd Annual Hawaii Prayer Breakfast
Akaka will deliver “Welcome” address.
Time: 7 a.m.
Location: Hilton Hawaiian Village, Coral Ballroom

Senate Committee on Indian Affairs field hearing
Chairman Akaka will hold a hearing on the Hawaiian Homeownership Opportunity Act (S. 65). The bill ensures that Native Hawaiians have parity with American Indians and Alaska Natives in the area of housing.
