Applicants sought to lead state Elections Commission

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii Supreme Court Chief Justice Mark E. Recktenwald is seeking applicants for Chair of the Hawaii State Elections Commission.

The chief justice is required to promptly fill any elections commission member vacancy not filled within the statutorily required time.

Anyone interested in serving as Chair of the Hawaii Elections Commission should submit a cover letter and resume that include the following information:

* A statement explaining why you are qualified to serve as Commission chairperson
* Your education and employment history
* The names of any immediate relatives who serve in elected office or any other information that may be considered in determining whether there is any potential conflict of interest if you were to be appointed chair
* A disclosure of any pending litigation, tax, criminal or other matter that may present a potential conflict of interest with the duties of the Commission, or that may cause your integrity to be questioned
* Three references
