Waimea resident Steve Summers was in the right place at the right time with his camera pointed in the right direction.
Summers snapped this series of photos shortly after noon Jan. 20 at Holoholokai Beach Park, near Puako.
A lone stand-up paddle boarder got an up-close view as the humpback whale breached repeatedly.
Summers would like to meet the paddler and hear about his whale watching experience first-hand.
“I am so stoked to have been in the right place at the right time to shoot these photos. I still hope to get in touch with this stand up paddler so that he can back up his story with these photos,” he said. “If you know this guy please let me know.”
