By Hawaii 24/7 Staff

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for East facing shores of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Wednesday (Feb 29).

Rough and choppy surf is forecast to be in the six to eight foot range.

Swimmers and beachgoers should use caution as the surf can produce dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion.

A small craft advisory is also in effect for all Hawaiian waters until 6 a.m. Wednesday except for the leeward waters of Kauai, Oahu and Maui County.
