Two Big Island high schools are into the semifinals of the boys basketball state tournament on Oahu – one in each division.
In Division I, Kamehemeha Schools Hawaii need two overtimes to take out Academy of the Pacific, 39-37.
No. 3 seed Kamehameha meets No. 2 seed Kahuku at 7 p.m. Friday.
Hilo was knocked into the consolation bracket after a loss to No. 1 seed Punahou, 78-53.
In Division II, No. 2 seed HPA dropped Hanalani, 69-55 to move into the semifinals.
HPA plays McKinley at 5 p.m. Friday.
Also in Division II, Kohala fell to No. 1 seed Kalaheo, 52-39.
