The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for West facing shores of the Big Island until 6 p.m. Friday (Feb 17).
Surf is forecast to be in the six to 10 foot range this morning gradually decreasing to five to eight feet this afternoon and evening.
Swimmers and beachgoers should use caution due to dangerous rip currents and localized beach erosion created from the high surf.
A small craft advisory is also in effect for all Hawaiian waters until 6 p.m. Saturday due to a West-Northwest swell and increasing trade winds.
