Rotary Valentine fundraiser for scholarships

MEDIA RELEASE

The Rotary Club of Kona Mauka hosts its ninth annual Valentine Wine Tasting Celebration, 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 11 at a private Kona estate overlooking Kailua Bay.

In line with the Valentine’s theme, the event will feature superb wines, extraordinary food with carving station, gourmet pupus and mouthwatering desserts, live music by Kevin Teves, and a silent auction featuring items from local artists, restaurants, hotels, and businesses.

Sponsors for the evening include Alvin’s Signs, Big Island Grill, BMW of Hawaii, Golden Egg Cash Assets, and Manago Hotel.

Proceeds will go toward scholarships for local high school seniors and community service projects.

Every year, the Rotary Club of Kona Mauka supports the community in various ways. Here are a few highlights:

* Scholarships – provided over $20,000 to local students last year
* Sponsorship of students to attend a leadership camp
* Provide every third grader in the Konawaena Complex with their own personal dictionary & vision screening through the Keiki Vision and Dictionary Project
* Community service projects

This year, the club is hoping that the event will generate more funds than ever before in order to continue to help the youth and other projects in the community.

Tickets are $65 per person and available at Golden Egg Cash Assets at Ilima Court in Kona or by calling 987-0184.
