HPA takes second in girls state soccer

HPA had to settle for second place Saturday in the girls state soccer tournament on Oahu.

Mid-Pacific jumped into the lead in the 17th minute with a goal by AJ Johnson and that was all the No. 1 seed needed to win the crown.

HPA, which entered the tournament seeded No. 3 in the Division II bracket, finished the season with a 15-2 record.

In the Division II consolation bracket, Kamehameha Schools Hawaii topped Honokaa, 3-1, for 7th place honors.

Honokaa takes 8th place.

In Division I, No. 1 seed Kamehameha Schools Kalapama wrapped up the title with a 1-0 win against Iolani.

Also in Division I, Kealakehe got spanked by Baldwin, 5-3, and had to settle for 6th place.

Also, Konawaena fell to Kapolei, 3-0, and wound up in 8th place.
