Fire/rescure crews responded to a 6:06 a.m. alarm to a brushfire near the 14 mile marker of Akoni Pule Highway (Hwy 270) on the makai side just South of Lapakahi State Park Wednesday (Feb 1).

Upon arrival firefighters found a two acre brushfire growing in size spreading towards the ocean. Crews used offroad trucks to battle the blaze with County tankers supplying water due to the lack of fire hydrants in the area.

There were no roadblocks and no injuries reported in the blaze. The cause of the fire is undetermined at this time.
