Bicycle pedals recalled by Performance Inc. due to fall hazard

About 2,900 bicycle pedals are recalled. The pedal body can break or crack during use, causing the rider to lose control and posing a fall hazard. Performance has received three reports of the pedals breaking. No injuries have been reported.

Uni-O Industries recalls O-Grill portable gas grills due to fire and burn hazards

About 4,530 grills are involved in this recall. The regulator on the grill can leak gas which can ignite, posing a fire and burn hazard to consumers. Uni-O has received 10 reports of grills catching fire. No injuries or property damage have been reported.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Warning for the North and West facing shores of all islands. The warning remains in effect until 6 a.m. Thursday (Jan 5).

Surf is forecast to be 15–25 feet along North facing shores of the Big Island and eight to 12 feet along West facing shores. The surf levels will peak tonight for the Big Island.

Big Island police are investigating a burglary in Puna that took place in November. 

At about 2:25 p.m. on November 25, Puna patrol officers responded to a reported burglary on 26th Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park subdivision. They determined that between 11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m., a 72-year-old woman was confronted by five men while outside her house.
