‘Evening of Music & Inspiration’ at Aloha Theatre (Jan. 20)

MEDIA RELEASE

Medicine for the People and Kona Pacific Public Charter School partner to present an Evening of Music & Inspiration at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at Aloha Theatre.

It’s an evening of music and inspiration with Nahkohe and Hope of Medicine for the People and the mesmerizing new to the aina sounds of Dustin Thomas. The musicians will be joined by students from Kona Pacific Public Charter School.

This collaboration began in November, 2011, when Medicine for the People offered a workshop and led the children in a moving performance at the Thanksgiving Assembly at Kona Pacific. Nahko, Hope and Dustin will return to offer a weeklong workshop with the students during the week of Jan. 17-20, culminating in the benefit show at the Aloha Theatre.

The show is where the common vision of Medicine for the People and Kona Pacific come together – for an evening of positive being and action.

Nahko of Medicine for the People said: “The children of Kona Pacific are an integral part of this show, as they will be singing and dancing along with Nahko, Hope, and Dustin. Expressing moral and life lessons through the music, we are able to create beautiful relationships with these children, while giving them the opportunity to dance and sing about simple truths that will stay with them throughout their lives. I’m excited to work with them again, and in the week before the performance get to really create bonds and fruitful collaborations with the future leaders of the world”

A portion of the proceeds of this event will support the development of a performing arts amphitheater at Kona Pacific Public Charter School in Kealakekua.

Kona Pacific Public Charter School is a K-8 public charter school in Kealakekua offering an innovative program, inspired by Waldorf education and rooted firmly in the land and culture of Hawaii.
