Haina well in Honokaa repaired, residents can resume normal water use

MEDIA RELEASE

At this time, the Haina Well in Honoka’a has been repaired. Water Supply customers in Honoka’a, Pā’auhau, Āhualoa, Kalopā, Pohākea, Upper Pa’auilo, Kukuihaele, Kapulena in Hāmākua, Hawai’i are no longer affected. Department of Water Supply workers brought the well back online Wednesday night (Jan 11) after repairs to the motor control were completed.

Due to this emergency repair, the following are in effect:

  • Water haulers and the Waimea-Ä€hualoa Water Transmission System are no longer replenishing the Honoka’a Hospital Tank.
  • Customers in the affected area may resume normal water consumption.

Again, the Haina Well in Honoka’a has been repaired and is now back online. Dept. of Water Supply customers in Honoka’a, Pā’auhau, Āhualoa, Kalopā, Pohākea, Upper Pa’auilo, Kukuihaele and Kapulena may resume normal water use.

The Department appreciates the cooperation, patience, and understanding from the area customers during the emergency.
