A High Surf Warning remains in effect for the North and West facing shores of the Big Island until 6 a.m. Thursday (Jan 5) then a High Surf Advisory will be in effect until 6 a.m. Friday (Jan 6).
Surf along North facing shores is forecast to be 15-25 feet lowering to 10-20 feet during the day Thursday. West facing shores are forecast to have eight to 12 foot surf lowering to four to eight feet after 6 a.m. Thursday.
Dangerous battering wave action will pound the shoreline and possibly run-up onto low-lying area. Dangerous rip currents are also forecast.
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for all mariners.
