The Kona Crime Prevention Committee recognized Officer Kaeo Drummondo as “Officer of the Month” for January in a luncheon ceremony on Wednesday (January 4) at Huggo’s restaurant in Kailua-Kona.

Drummondo was honored for what Sergeant Grad Elarionoff described as his “relentless” pursuit of leads while investigating an auto theft case.

While obtaining the victim’s initial statement, Drummondo noticed a vehicle similar to the stolen one parked nearby. Further investigation determined that it was unregistered. Drummondo painstakingly traced that car to a man who was in possession of the stolen vehicle, which had fraudulent license plates and a new paint job.

“Within one week, Officer Drummondo was able to gather information, follow up on leads, identify the responsible person and locate the vehicle,” Elarionoff said. “Subsequently, the suspect was arrested for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle and the victim’s vehicle was returned.”

As “Officer of the Month,” Drummondo is eligible to become “Officer of the Year.” The Kona Crime Prevention Committee is an organization that encourages community involvement in aiding and supporting police in West HawaiÊ»i.

Big Fing deal…someone had to get the silly award…he did someone a favor and was promised it…Hawaii MUST be the safest place on the planet to be a cop…period

  2. Sensibility says:

why is is that we elevate cops to the point of honoring them for doing absolutely nothing? …..in hawaii every honor that a cop receives is based in fear…no where i have ever lived do average citizens fear the police more than they do here…they are beyond corrupt here…all the top “officials” are japanese….they drive ridiculously unprofessional automobiles….and so much more…..maybe we should honor people who really make a difference….cops need to be reminded that they are nothing but public servants and employees…that they are they puppets… of the court system and lawyers…and that your average citizen is more skilled with a firearm than they are….screw the “bully pulpit”
