Wind Advisory for Big Island summits continues

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the Wind Advisory for Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa until 4 p.m. Thursday (Dec 29).

Winds from the East are forecast to be 25-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph at elevations above 8,000 feet.

Difficult driving conditions for high profile vehicles exist. Unsecured objects could be also be knocked over or blown away causing loss of an item or creating dangerous projectiles.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Thursday for the Alenuihaha Channel, windward, leeward and Southeast waters of the Big Island.

The advisory is also in effect for Kauai Northwest and windward waters, Kauai Channel, Oahu windward water, the Kaiwi Channel. Maui County’s windward waters, Maalaea Bay and Pailolo Channel are also part of the advisory area.
