Christmas at the Fairmont set for Dec. 8, 2012

MEDIA RELEASE

Save the date of Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012 for Christmas at The Fairmont-Dining with the Chefs. Presented by the American Culinary Federation (ACF) Kona Kohala Chefs Association, the festive gala benefits local culinary education and will be at The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.

In its 24th year, the annual event provides scholarship assistance to local student culinarians and is also raising money to equip the instruction kitchens at the future Hawaii Community College at Palamanui.

More than 20 top Hawaii chefs and confectioners use primarily locally sourced ingredients to prepare tantalizing cuisine—all accompanied by handcrafted ales, wines and 100 percent Kona coffee.

Attendees can enjoy live jazz under the stars and an exciting live auction of exclusive, private dinner parties and receptions professionally hosted by local chefs.

Also available by auction are specially crafted gingerbread “houses” that are perfect for holiday decorating. Designed by West Hawaii community college students under the supervision of pastry chef instructor Fernand Guiot, the standout gingerbread creations have included Polynesian-themed hale and Hawaii landmarks like Hulihee Palace and Mokuaikaua Church.

Ticket prices remain $75. Details on sales locations and an event rate at The Fairmont will be forthcoming.

American Culinary Federation Kona Kohala Chefs Association: ACF is the largest, professional, non-profit organization for chefs and cooks in the nation. Founded in 1980, the Kona Kohala chapter is comprised of food service professionals, vendors, growers and culinary enthusiasts.
