The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for the summits of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa until 6 a.m. Tuesday (Dec 20). Periods of snow, freezing rain and fog are expected through the night.

Snow and ice above 11,000 feet with a snowfall up to two inches is forecast. The snow, icy roads, low visibility and East winds of 15-25mph with gusts up to 30mph will make driving conditions hazardous.

Summit temperatures are forecast for the upper 20s to lower 30s and visibility will be near zero at times in freezing fog.
