In recognition of the 70th anniversary of Pearl Harbor, seven Habitat for Humanity affiliates in Hawaii partnered with Lowe’s for “Hammers for Heroes.”

The statewide project revitalized 21 Habitat homes in partnership with Lowe’s volunteers and veteran and active-duty homeowners and volunteers.

In Waimea, Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii hosted a Women’s Build. Ladies came together to participate in Habitat for Humanity’s A Brush With Kindness Program.

Lowe’s of Kona hosted a free paint clinic for the women who were able to volunteer. They learned tips and techniques to do the job right.

The women then traveled up to Kuhio Village in Waimea. They spent the day rolling, trimming and brushing on the new color.

Homeowner Valerie Lau was thrilled – as were the neighbors.

This project is a continuation on the Neighborhood Revitalization Initiative project that Habitat for Humanity International is introducing.

Habitat West Hawaii is committed to Kuhio Village in Waimea, the entrance to the Hawaiian Home Lands.

Habitat for Humanity West Hawaii is a locally run affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership with people in need to build and renovate decent, affordable housing.

Community donations for Habitat ReStore are always welcome. Proceeds generated through these generous donations help build homes for Habitat families.
