Solomon attends 2011 Hawaii Paniolo Hall of Fame

Ten cowboys were inducted into the Paniolo Hall of Fame at the Hawaii Cattlemen’s Council Annual Convention on Saturday, Nov. 19 at the Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel.

The Paniolo Hall of Fame was initiated 12 years ago to recognize individuals statewide who have contributed to keeping Hawaii’s paniolo heritage alive. Including the 2011 inductees, there are 116 members, both living and deceased, in the Paniolo Hall of Fame.

“I commend the Oahu Cattlemen’s Association for organizing this wonderful annual event recognizing Hawaii’s cattlemen,” said Sen. Malama Solomon, who represents District 1, encompassing Waimea, Hamakua, South Hilo, Keaukaha and Hilo.

“Congratulations to all inductees of the Hawaii Paniolo Hall of Fame. Their knowledge and guidance have made the paniolo culture legendary in Hawaii,” she said.

Solomon, a rancher herself, attended the ceremony.
