Hawaii First Community Resource Center open in Hilo (Nov. 21)

MEDIA RELEASE

Hawaii First FCU opens its Hilo Community Resource Center (CRC) on Monday, Nov. 21.

Hawaii First’s community resource centers are a one-stop-shop for accessing the critical tools necessary to get ahead, especially during these tough economic times.

Free: one-on-one financial counseling, budgeting, debt and credit management, homebuyer education workshops, resume and job seeking assistance and so much more.

“We are very excited for this expansion. We couldn’t have done this without the continued support of the CDFI Fund, the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions and the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. Our team worked long and hard at making this a reality for our community members located in the rural areas on the Hilo side of the island. It is comforting for us to know that our community members will not have to travel such long distances to access these vital services,” said Laura Aguirre, President/CEO.

“We feel very humbled to have been given this great opportunity to share and give back to our communities by providing free access to such valuable resources. We have to thank our CEO, Laura Aguirre for creating an environment of integrity and innovation that lead to bringing this dream of hers to reality,” said Mary Ann Otake, Hilo Branch Manager.

Hawaii First FCU thanks all the helping hands that came together to make the Hilo CRC a reality, including the County of Hawaii Building Division for providing outstanding service in helping to obtain the required permits.

Hawaii First FCU is humbled for these great opportunities that continue to empower our communities by serving Hawaii Island first! Aloha! Hawaii First Federal Credit Union (HFFCU) is a not for profit, community-based, low income designated Federal Credit Union, which was organized in 1956.
