Hawaiian Airlines has announced the appointment of Sunshine Topping to the position of director of recruiting.
Topping is responsible for developing the strategy required for Hawaiian’s recruitment of new employees to fulfill specific needs and specialties in conjunction with its future growth plans. Hawaiian currently has more than 4,100 employees and is hiring more than 400 new staff positions to accommodate its expansion in 2012.
“We are adding new aircraft and growing into new markets and Sunshine’s expertise will help ensure that we have the right people in place to serve our guests and manage our growing business,†said Barbara Falvey, Hawaiian’s senior vice president – human resources.
Topping brings 15 years of human resources management experience, primarily in aerospace and technology, to her new role at Hawaiian. Most recently, she served for the last year as Director of the Department of Human Resource Development for the State of Hawaii.
Before that Topping’s most recent work experience was as director of human resources for Honolulu-based Sandwich Isle Communications, a telecommunications company, from 2007-2010, and as director of human resources and ethics for NovaSol, a Hawaii high-technology company, from 2004-2007.
She also served as human resources manager for Boeing from 1996-1999.
Born and raised in Keaukaha, Topping is an alumnus of Hilo High School. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Colorado in Boulder, and a Masters Degree in social work from the University of Hawaii at Manoa.
