Fire/rescue crews responded to a 4:40 p.m. alarm Tuesday (Oct. 18) to assist police in searching for a possible missing person in a macadamia nut orchard and gulch area near Kaiwiki Road.
Search crews found the body of a man at the bottom of the Maili Stream bed mauka of the Kaiwiki Road wooden bridge. Chopper One was used to fly the body out of the gulch.
Police have no positive identification on the body and an autopsy is scheduled for Wednesday.
However, police were looking for an 84-year-old man who was last seen Sunday or possibly Monday. The man’s vehicle was found Tuesday near the macadamia orchard, which prompted police to call in fire/rescue crews to assist with the search.
Police are conducting an investigation into the fatality.
