Conde Nast Traveler magazine has released its annual Readers’ Choice Awards survey, honoring 29 Fairmont hotels and resorts around the world as among the world’s best, including The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii.

The poll ranks hotels, resorts, cities and more on a variety of metrics, and publishes the creme de la creme in its November 2011 issue.

From more than 8 million votes cast among 28,876 Conde Nast Traveler readers, 24 Fairmont properties returned to the list after being honored last year, while new additions include London’s recently restored The Savoy, the sophisticated Fairmont Pacific Rim in Vancouver, The Plaza in New York, and two of Fairmont’s storied California properties: Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows and The Fairmont San Francisco.

The Fairmont Orchid, Hawaii, a AAA Four Diamond Resort located on the Island of Hawaii’s Kohala Coast earned an impressive No. 9 on the Top 20 Hawaii list, with an overall score of 91.2 and was ranked 2nd on the Island of Hawaii.

The resort’s authentically local decor, sustainable cuisine along with its award winning Spa Without Walls earned its spot in one of the industry’s most coveted lists.

The Fairmont Orchid is in highly esteemed company with other top hotels and resorts from around the world. Contemporary properties such as Mexico’s Fairmont Mayakoba and Vancouver’s The Fairmont Waterfront were honored alongside grande dame hotels such as The Fairmont Banff Springs and Fairmont Le Montreux Palace in Switzerland.

The brand prevailed in Canada, with seven of the country’s top hotels and seven of the top resorts. In Kenya, Fairmont’s two legendary safari retreats, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont Mara Safari Club, were honored among the top resorts in Africa.
