The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a High Surf Advisory for East facing shores of Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Maui and the Big Island through 4 p.m. Saturday (Oct 15). Strong Northeasterly winds, due to an approaching front moving down from the North, will cause rough wind generated surf.
Breaking waves are forecast to reach five to eight feet. Waimea Bay on Oahu reported surf heights of 10 feet Saturday morning. Dangerous rip currents and beach erosion will be hazardous for swimmers and beach goers.
Small Craft Advisories are in effect for all Hawaiian waters.
Surf heights are expected to rise again Monday for North and South shores with another bump in surf coming Wednesday peaking Thursday.
