Hawaii 24/7 staff

A two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Queen Kaahumanu Highway sent three people to Kona Community Hospital.

Hawaii 24/7 has learned a vehicle traveling northbound on Queen Kaahumanu Highway apparently failed to yield the righ-of-way and turned left at the intersection of the access road into Kona International Airport.

A sport utility vehicle traveling southbound slammed into that vehicle.

Emergency crews transported at least three people to Kona Community Hospital.

Occupants of one vehicle were reported to be visitors. The southbound vehicle’s driver is a Big Island resident.
