High surf advisory continues for South facing shores of all islands

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a high surf advisory for South facing shores of all Hawaiian Islands through 6 a.m. Thursday (Oct 6).

Surf is forecast to be in the 10-14 foot range lowering to eight to 10 feet tonight.

The high surf will produce rip currents and cause beach erosion in areas impacted. Swimming is not recommended anywhere the the high surf is occurring and where rip currents exist.

A Small Craft Advisory is in effect until 9 a.m. Thursday (Oct 6) for Maalaea Bay, Pailolo Channel, Alehuihaha Channel, Big Island Leeward and Southeast waters.
