Kaiser ranked tops in state health plans

Kaiser Permanente is the highest-rated commercial, Medicare and Medicaid health insurance plan in Hawaii based on quality and member satisfaction, according to a new ranking by the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).

The rankings are based on data collected, analyzed and converted to scores by the NCQA. The three reporting categories include consumer satisfaction, prevention, and treatment.

NCQA ranks Kaiser Permanente Hawaii’s commercial plan 37 nationally, an improvement of ten positions over 2010. The Medicare plan also moved up the rankings to 7, from 12 in 2010.

The Kaiser Permanente Hawaii Medicare plan maintained its No. 2 national ranking.

NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. NCQA accredits and certifies a wide range of health care organizations. It also recognizes clinicians and practices in key areas of performance.
