MEDIA RELEASE

Last Friday, the Parker School ohana once again filled the campus’ front lawn for the annual Fall barbecue and potluck. Kindergarten through 12th grade students and their families, teachers, administrators, staff, board members, and alumni all enjoyed the tradition, which offers the opportunity for the entire school community to come together, and to welcome new students and their families. This year, alumni from as far back as the class of 1984 attended.

High school students ran shave ice, cotton candy and face painting booths, and visual arts teacher Heidi Buscher and the National Art Honor Society students hosted a game where dart throwers popped paint-filled balloons pinned to a canvas, collectively creating a piece of contemporary art. Younger students eagerly waited in line for the popular school PTSO-sponsored bouncy house.

Parker School is grateful to the following additional community members for their contributions to the event: Starbucks; Kekela Farms; Kawamata Farms; Cyrus Mead; and musicians Rob Decker, Doug Johnson and Tropical Vibrations, and arts department chair Maren Oom, who provided the music throughout the evening.
