Waimea Town Meeting to review Longs plan (Sept. 15)

MEDIA RELEASE

On May 18, 2011, Longs Drugs received Final Plan Approval from the county Planning Department for a new store to be constructed on Kawaihae Road between Hale Ola Pono and Parker Square.

Due to an oversight, the Planning Department did not forward the Plan Approval application to Waimea Community Association’s Planning and Design Review Committee prior to issuance of final approval.

When it was discovered that the community association had not been provided an opportunity to comment, County
Planning staff placed “a hold” on the sign off for construction plans to allow additional time.

Members of the community will have an opportunity to comment on these plans when representatives of Longs present their plans at 5:15 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 15 at Waimea School Cafeteria. The meeting will combine WCA’s usual monthly meeting with a meeting of the association’s Planning & Design Review Committee, and will be conducted under the procedures normally followed by the design review committee.

Members of the WCA Planning and Design Review Committee include Mike Luce, Dr. Billy Bergin, Robin Inaba, Kurt Klimt and Stephanie Peikert.

To review the proposed plans and the Plan Approval letter from the county Planning Director, visit WCA’s website at: www.WaimeaTown.org
