Live webcast from Keck Observatory (Sept. 15)

MEDIA RELEASE

* How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming: A lecture by Caltech’s Dr. Mike Brown
7 p.m. (Hawaii time), Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011

There are now almost 6,000 members of Keck Nation around the world, which means most can’t attend our public lectures in Hawaii. Now, for the first time, Keck Nation members are invited to participate in a live webcast of a Keck Observatory astronomy talk.

At this special inaugural presentation at the Kahilu Theatre, Dr. Mike Brown will describe his research exploring the outer solar system, tell the tale of making the discovery of a lifetime, and give a heartfelt and personal perspective on the demotion of everyone’s favorite far flung planet, Pluto.

For his scientific shocker of the century, Brown was named one of Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in 2006.
