Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff has announced a new resort experience that will have guests seeing stars. Every Thursday starting at 7:30 p.m., guests are invited to a special “Under the Sea Cliff Stars” movie screening on the resort’s south pool deck.

Of course, movie night would not be complete without freshly popped popcorn, chocolate candies and refreshments – all available for the guests’ enjoyment compliments of the Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff.

Keeping it all about Hawaii, each film selection features a movie that was either filmed in Hawaii, is about Hawaii, or has a strong connection to Hawaii.

“We are delighted to be able to create a fun vacation experience while showcasing the natural beauty that the island of Hawaii has to offer,” said Carol Hanna, general manager of Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff. “We want our guests to walk away with happy memories and to be able to recall their Hawaii vacation every time they watch any of these films.”

While subject to change, the current listing of family-friendly Hawaii themed movie features includes; “Lilo and Stitch,” “The Ride,” “Blue Hawaii,” and “Soul Surfer.”

Lilo and Stitch – 85 minutes, Family, Animation

A Hawaiian girl unknowingly adopts an extra-terrestrial fugitive who is impersonating a loving puppy, from the pound. The two have some amazing adventures and discover the true meaning of ohana.

The Ride – 90 minutes, Family, Drama

When a cocky young surfing champion wipes out while surfing, he is transported back to 1911. He is washed up on Waikiki Beach, where he is befriended by a young Duke Kahanamoku, who teaches him the true spirit of surfing.

Blue Hawaii – 102 minutes, Comedy, Musical

Chad Gates, played by Elvis Presley, has just gotten out of the Army and is back where he belongs, in Hawaii. He’s got everything he needs, his surfboard, his friends and his girlfriends. His father keeps bothering him to go get a job at the Great Southern Hawaii Fruit Company, but that’s the last thing Gates wants to do, so he gets a job as a tour guide at his girlfriends agency.

Soul Surfer – 106 minutes, Family, Drama

This movie is based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, a 13 year old competitive surfer with big dreams and a courageous spirit. Her dreams turn into a nightmare after a sudden shark attack takes her left arm and her hopes of ever surfing again. Filmed entirely in Hawaii, Soul Surfer is an inspirational film for the entire family about overcoming obstacles and turning tragedy into triumph.
