MEDIA RELEASE

Parker School kindergarteners found a beautifully wrapped present waiting for them at their circle rug in their classroom last Friday.

To teach the importance of reading, in addition to having her students bring in their favorite books to share, teacher Jackie Sills brought the present, and asked the students what they thought it was.

They answered, “A gift,” “A beautiful present,” “A treasure.”

“I told them they were all correct,” Sills said. “As I unwrapped the present and they saw that it was a book, I said, ‘A book is a treasure and each time we open a book we open a gift.’ It was such a fun day in kindergarten.”
